"Mismanagement Of Dead Bodies, Reselling Biomedical Waste": Ex-RG Kar Dy Superintendent Moves Calcutta HC Against Former Principal Sandip Ghosh

Former Deputy Superintendent at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Akhtar Ali has moved the Calcutta High Court against former principal Dr Sandip Ghosh, alleging serious illegalities committed by the former principal.

In his plea Ali alleges that Ghosh started serious illegalities as such mismanagement of dead bodies, reselling biowaste in the open market, misutilization of public funds etc.

Ali stated that a complaint was made regarding all these before the Anti-Corruption Bureau, West Bengal, but no action was taken against Prof.(Dr.) Sandip Ghosh.

It is alleged that Prof.(Dr.) Sandip Ghosh is so powerful that he was transferred twice to other hospitals but within the shortest period, he was again reinstated as Principal of R.G.Kar Medical College and Hospital.

"Prof.(Dr.) Sandip Ghosh have blessings of political leaders and higher officials of this State and for that he is being safeguarded, despite of risking the lives of people of this State," the plea states.

The petitioner alleges that a complaint was lodged before the Tala Police Station, but refused to start any case against the now-ousted principal.

There is serious issues involved which is jeopardizing the public health. The State police authority cannot investigate the matter in fair and impartial manner as several influential persons of this State are involved in this matter. The matter needs to be investigated properly for the sake of the innocent people, the plea alleges.

In his plea, Ali has also alleged that his life is at stake due to taking on such a powerful figure and that the same would need to be protected by the Court.
