In 2020, the Government of India embarked on an ambitious exercise of reforming the Criminal Justice System. On 11th August 2023, three bills titled Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023 and Bharatiya Sakshya Bill, 2023 seeking to repeal and replace the Indian Penal Code (IPC), 1860, the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), 1973 and the Indian Evidence Act (IEA), 1872 respectively, were introduced in the Parliament. These laws came into force on 1st July, 2024.

About the Course:

The course is approximately 50+ hours. It endeavours to unpack the important procedural and practical aspects of Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), 2023. A mixed pedagogy will be adopted by our course instructor Mr. BG Harindranath, Senior Advocate [Former District & Sessions Judge, Former Law Secretary, Government of Kerala, Former Additional Director, National Judicial Academy] and share in detail about the law of Evidence.

Course Objectives:

  1. An advanced practical course on BSA spread over 25 classes, held on every Saturday and Sunday for 2 Hours each, from 6pm to 8pm.

  2. To familiarise the participants with important nuances of the new Law of Evidence i.e. Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam 2023.

  3. The course will be theoretically rich as well as practically relevant, supported with Landmark Judgements and Recent Developments.
