"We Will Protects The Farmers' Land"- Supreme Court- Hearing On Farm Laws And Farmers Protest: Live-Updates
Salve : When your lordships pass the order, it may be indicated that this is not a victory for anyone.
CJI : It is a victory for fair play.
Salve : Yes, it will be a victory for fair play and court's conscience.
Salve : The Republic Day parade must go unblemished.
CJI : Dave undertook that yesterday that there will be no tractor rally.
Salve : But he is not here today. The Solicitor General has filed an application to stop the rally.
Salve : I don't know who ML Sharma represents. He has filed a petitioner in person and says negative things. We don't have Dave, Phoolka and Colin Gonsalves today, though they said they represent nearly 400 protesters. This is really concerning.
Salve : I say with a heavy heart that no body is interested in the judicial process.
CJI now turns to Senior Advocate Harish Salve.
CJI : Where has (Dushyant)Dave gone now? Yesterday he said he will get back today with the views of farmers unions. They have not logged in also.
CJI : We want to place on record our appreciation for this stand(about elders, women and children not participating in protests in future).
CJI to AP Singh : We will record you statement that elders, women and children will not participate in the present protests.
AP Singh, for one of the farmers union BKU-Bhanu, says that he conveyed to his clients the concerns of the court about the presence of senior citizens and they agreed to go back.
CJI : Your clients said so?
AP Singh : Yes.
CJI reiterates that the Court will form the Committee.
'We don't want the negative inputs which we got from Sharma that farmers are not going to appear before the Committee".
P Wilson for MP Thiruchi Siva submits that the laws were passed without discussion in the house.
CJI : Yesterday the AG submitted that the south is supporting the laws.
Wilson : That is not correct. Wrong fact. Today Vijayawada is burning with protests.
