Two officials of the Supreme Court who were dismissed for allegedly tampering with order directing personal appearance of RCom Chairman Anil Ambani, has been arrested by the Delhi police yesterday, the Indian Express has reported.
According to the report, a senior police officer had registered an FIR after they received a complaint from the administration department of the Supreme Court. "During the investigation, we found some concrete evidence against them and they could not provide a satisfactory answer to the investigators," the officer said.
In February, the Supreme Court had summarily dismissed two court masters- Manav Sharma and Tapan Kumar Chakraborty- for tampering with the January 7 order directing personal appearance of Reliance Communication's Chairman Anil Ambani.
The controversy relates to the order passed by the bench of Justices R F Nariman and Vineet Saran ordering personal appearance of Anil Ambani in the contempt petitions filed by Ericsson. Though the bench had specifically made it clear that personal appearance is not dispensed with, the copy of the order uploaded in the official website of the top court stated personal appearance is dispensed with.
