The Delhi High Court has ordered through its Registrar General that in light of the "alarming rise in Covid-19 cases in the NCT of Delhi", the High Court and all district courts in the capital will shift to the virtual mode of hearings till Apr 23.
The order dated Apr 8 further adds that all the courts of the Joint Registrars shall also function through the virtual mode only from Apr 9, and that no adverse orders shall be passed by them in case of non-appearance of parties and/or their counsels.
Matters fixed for recording of evidence shall stand adjourned. The order further states that in respect of hearings before lower courts the video conferencing links for the hearings shall be made available on the website/causelist.
With respect to extension of remand of Under-Trial Prisoners, the Principal District and Sessions Judges have been directed to make necessary arrangements in consultation with the DG (Prisons). Adverse orders may not be passed in case of non-appearance of parties or their counsels for the lower courts as well.
