The Kerala Government has informed the Supreme Court that it has decided not to cancel the exams for Class XI(Plus One) which are proposed to be held in September 2021.
Yesterday, the Supreme Court had asked the Kerala Government's standing counsel to get instructions by today itself regarding the holding of physical exams amid the COVID-19 situation.
In the reply affidavit filed before the Supreme Court, the state government said that it has successfully conducted the exams for Class X and XII in April following all COVID-protocols, and that the same safety measures will be adopted for the Class XI exams proposed in September.
It is also said that the marks of Plus One are considered for qualifying marks and hence the cancellation of exams will affect the future of the students. The exams are proposed for the portions of classes completed through online teaching.
A vacation bench comprising Justices AM Khanwilkar and Dinesh Maheshwari will hear at today 2 PM a bunch of petitions related to the conduct of Class XII exams of CBSE, ICSE and state boards.
Yesterday, the bench was told that the States of Assam, Tripura and Punjab have cancelled the written exams for Class 12. State of Andhra Pradesh is the only state remaining to take a decision on cancellation of Class XII exams.
Six states have already conducted exams for Class 12 and 18 states have decided to cancel the same.
