All matters listed in the Supreme Court in accord with today's list stand adjourned as per a notice released by the Additional Registrar of the Top Court today.

After the Prime Minister addressed the nation today amid the Coronavirus Pandemic and effectuated a complete lockdown across the country for 21 days, the Court declared that two benches, which were to assemble for urgent hearings, shall not assemble.

"Take notice that in view of the complete lock down throughout the country for 21 days w.e.f today, i.e. 24.03.2020 midnight 12.00, the matter listed tomorrow before the benches comprising Hon'ble Dr. Justices DY Chandrachud & Surya Kant as well as Justices L. Nageswara Rao & Aniruddha Bose through video conferencing will not be taken up and the same stand adjourned" states the notice.

Yesterday, the Supreme Court had conducted a successful trial run of conducting hearings via Video Conferencing and assured the lawyers that there was viable technology to conduct hearings in light of guidelines of "social distancing".

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced three weeks countrywide lockdown for 21 days, starting from 12 AM tonight.

The PM said that this measure was absolutely necessary to stop the transmission of COVID-19 virus
