SG: This is in my submission important to unloading oxygen. Because now Delhi has excess supply and it’s taking time to unload and replenishing the stocks.
SG: Today, oxygen is coming by OxygenExpress trains. Oxygen is coming from Dhaka and Durgapur as well as Tughlakabad. Demands from other States - they are also asking for higher allocation of oxygen. If we continue supplying to Delhi in excess, other States will not get it.
SG: This needs to be equitably utilised by all States. The position of Delhi for 700 is not the factually correct position. In order to supply this, other States are suffering. It may result to adverse consequences in other States beyond the capacity of Centre.
SG: A survey was carried out in hospitals and 7 refillers were present. The status of oxygen availability at these major hospitals was seen as below - these are technical figures.
Justice Chandrachud: Let’s read through the figures also.
SG reads out the figures pertaining to the current stock, average daily consumption and storage capacity.
SG: All major hospitals which use LMO are covered in the survey. Significant stocks are now available with hospitals in DELHI.
Justice Chandrachud: You are not looking too well this morning. Ms. Bhati can read it out.
SG: No, no. I can do it.
SG: Yesterday, 730.7 MT was received as per report of Delhi, more than what was directed by SC. This includes some from imports. Yesterday, not one complaint of stock outage was received.
Matter has commenced.
SG Tushar Mehta informs the Court that he has submitted bullet points as per the Court’s orders.
Yesterday, while staying the contempt notice issued to the central government officials by the Delhi HC over oxygen supply to the GNCTD, the Supreme Court required that the UOI make all efforts to comply with its direction regarding supply of 700 MT of oxygen per day to Delhi.
