In line with the promise made by newly sworn-in Chief Justice of India UU Lalit, the Supreme Court of India has notified important changes to the listing of fresh cases to ensure that the same is done in a timely manner.

By way of a circular issued on August 29, the Top Court has directed that all fresh matters verified on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday will be listed on Monday in the next week. Those matters verified on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will be listed on Friday in the next week.

"Henceforth, all the fresh matters verified on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday will be listed on Monday in the next week and those verified on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will be listed on Friday in the next week."

The circular further informs that if the number of matters earmarked for Monday or Friday are in excess, the matters will be listed on coming Friday or Monday respectively.

Further, it has been stated that the cause list of miscellaneous matters for Monday shall be published by Thursday (Morning) of the previous weeks and for Friday, will be published in the Supreme Court website latest by Monday.
These changes will ensure a definite time line for the posting of newly filed cases.
