Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, before proceeding with the usual court proceedings today, addressed the concerns raised by bar members regarding the delayed generation of diary numbers for matters which are e-filed. He announced that measures have been implemented to ensure the timely generation of diary numbers, reducing the process to 15 minutes from the time of matter filing. Furthermore, the CJI stated that the system was being further expedited to generate diary numbers immediately upon filing.

Addressing the issue of the bar members, CJI DY Chandrachud remarked–

"One request by bar members was that diary numbers for matters were being generated late. So now we're down to a situation where the diary number is being generated within 15 mins of matter being filed."

Adding that the court was committed to making the process even smoother by having the diary numbers generated immediately upon the matter being filed, the Chief Justice added–

Now we hope that it will be so that the diary number gets generated immediately upon matter being filed. This is what we were doing with the staff on Saturday and Sunday...I had received requests from SCBA and SCAORA that diary numbers were generated late on e-filing."
