The Additional Registrar of the Supreme Court has notified that on Monday, March 23, hearing will be conducted only in the Chief Justice's Court by a bench comprising of CJI SA Bobde, Justice L. Nageswara Rao and Justice Surya Kant at 11 AM.

Thereafter, a bench comprising of the CJI and Justice DY Chandrachud will take up matters through video conferencing, as per the cause list already issued on March 21.

All the other matters, listed in Court No. 2, Court No. 8 and Court No. 14 have been adjourned.

Vide another notification issued by the Secretary General it has been intimated that only one bench comprising of two Judges will be available to transact judicial work in the forthcoming week, through video conferencing mode.

"A Bench will be available for court work on Wednesday, 25 March, 2020 and the Cause list will be notified on the day previous to the hearing… Advocates on record and parties in person should indicate the extreme urgency of the matter in writing which will be listed at the discretion of the Hon'ble Presiding Judge," the notification states.

It has also been intimated that special rooms with requisite facilities to enable the members of the Bar to appear through video conferencing mode will be made available in the Supreme Court premises.

Further, the offices of the Registry (excepting Protocol and Caretaking Section) will remain closed between March 23 and March 28. However, all the officers and the staff have been instructed to remain available in case the concerned Registrar requires their presence for rendering duty in connection with urgent hearing and for allied services. 

Earlier today, the Supreme Court Advocate-On-Record Association had resolved to abstain appearing in the Supreme Court till 04/04/2020, in view of the lockdown imposed by the Delhi government due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
