Amidst the COVID-19 scare, the Allahabad High Court on Wednesday issued a circular stating that the High Court premises will remain closed for the next three days, i.e. March 19, 20 and 21, for sanitization purposes.

"The court premises of the High Court at Allahabad as well as at Lucknow for the purpose of taking preventive and remedial measures to combat the impending threat of Corona Virus (COVID-19) will remain closed on 19.03.2020, 20.03,2020 and 21.03.2020," the circular read.

In lieu of these holidays, the high court has decided to work on April 4, 2020, Saturday. It has also postponed the summer vacation to June 3, 2020 and has decided that the court will remain functional on June 1 and June 2, 2020, in order to compensate for the loss of judicial work.

On Monday, the HC had restricted its functioning to hear urgent matters only.
