A petition has been filed before the Supreme Court seeking postponement of AIAPGET-2020 Examination scheduled to be conducted on on 29th August.
17 doctors have approached the Apex Court against the conduct of All India AYUSH Post Graduate Entrance Test (AIAPGET)-2020 on 29.08.2020, despite alarming spurt of COVID-19 pandemic. They submitted that they are BAMS/ BHMS Doctors, who are tirelessly working as frontline Doctors/ "Corona Warriors" in various Hospitals across India.
They contend that forcing such aspirants to sit with other aspirants at Examination Centres, may lead to infection of the said disease in majority of the aspirants, which would be in sheer violation of their right to health, which is included within Right to Life under Article 21 of the Constitution of India
"Last time when the Respondent No.1 postponed this Exam on 15.07.2020, there were about 9.36 Lakh COVID-19 cases in India. However, today, when the COVID-19 cases have increased manifold, have crossed the figure of 25 Lakh cases in India and the situation has worsened in a critical manner, the decision of the Respondents to conduct AIAPGET-2020 on 29.08.2020, is utterly arbitrary and violative of the Right to Life of the Petitioners and other similarly situated aspirants, as enshrined within Article 21 of Constitution of India.", they submit through the petition.
They also point out that Tests/ Exams like Karnataka PGCET, CSIR UGC NET, Maharashtra MHTCET, ICAI, ICSI, AIBE, AILET, UPSC Preliminary Examinations etc. have been postponed solely due to alarming COVID-19 Crisis.
They also seek a direction to authorities to conduct Examination only after normalcy is restored in our country, post COVID-19 Crisis.
