AILET 2024 Analysis: Lengthy But On Expected Lines

AILET was conducted across 24 cities in the country today. This was the first AILET paper with revised duration of 120 minutes (instead of 90 minutes) for 150 questions. Though the students had more time but against all expectations, the question paper was lengthy, and the format was just like AILET 2022. The difficulty level was moderate and there were many contextual questions. Every question had a different passage making the question paper lengthier as opposed to AILET 2023.

Section wise analysis

General Knowledge: The section was Easy to Moderate and had a mix of Static and Current Affairs with more questions from Current Affairs. The questions asked were mostly about the major topics of the last few months ("what" based question with long options).

Logical Reasoning: The section was Moderate to Difficult. The section had a mix of questions from Legal Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, and Critical Reasoning

A. Legal Reasoning: There were 8 principle-fact based questions. The questions were mostly from Law of Torts. One question was repeated from AILET 2022 with a slight variation.

B. Critical Reasoning: There were 38 questions with lengthy statements involving Assumptions, Conclusions, Weakening etc.

C. Analytical Reasoning: There were 24 questions with emphasis on Syllogisms, along with some questions related to Coding-Decoding.

Overall, the questions in Logical Reasoning section, though time consuming but were not difficult to solve.

English: The section was moderate. The questions were contextual which required to be answered on the basis of passage. There were 7 passages & the number of questions in each passage varied from 5 to 10.

Overall, the paper can be termed as moderate to difficult. It was easier than AILET 2023 but was lengthy. Accordingly, the cut-off should be somewhere between 80-85 which will be around 10-12% higher than AILET 2023 cut offs but slightly lower than AILET 2022 Cut offs.
