The Supreme Court collegium has recommended the appointment of seven Additional Judges of Gauhati High Court as Permanent Judges.

The Collegium comprising Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, Justice MB Lokur and Justice Kurian Joseph recommended the following Additional Judges to be made permanent:

Lanusungkum Jamir
Manash Ranjan Pathak
Achintya Malla Bujor Barua
Kalyan Rai Surana
Prasanta Kumar Deka
Nelson Sailo
Ajit Borthakur

The resolution takes note of certain allegations received by the office of the Chief Justice of India, but concludes absence of any prima facie substance in these complaints.

It further clarifies that Justice Lanusungkum Jamir, who hails from Gauhati High Court but was recently posted, on transfer, to Manipur High Court, would continue to function in that High Court.
