The Supreme Court which closes for summer vacations from May 12 to June 29 has notified that vacation bench would now be hearing the pending regular cases to clear the backlog of cases.

According to the notification the vacation bench will hear the cases on all days from Tuesday to Friday. All litigants and lawyers can approach the registry before 2nd May if required to get their regular cases listed before the vacation bench. The parties will have to seek consent from the opposite party as well before approaching the registry for listing the case during vacation.

Notification contains a list of matters ranging from labour matters to family law, land acquisitions, arbitration, election petitions, civil disputes, service matters and habeas corpus matters can be taken up by the bench during this period.
