A Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra agreed to hear on next Monday (March-12] a petition seeking CBI investigation into the alleged Staff Selection Commission (SSC) question paper leak scam and framing of rules for free and fair selection process in by SSC.

Advocate M L Sharma, who filed the PIL, has mentioned before a bench comprising Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud and requested for urgent hearing of the matter.

The candidates appeared in the Combined Graduate Level (Tier-II) Examination 2018 held from February 17 to 21 have been protesting since February 27, seeking a CBI investigation into the alleged paper leak.

The students alleged that the photos of the question paper had gone viral even before the exam was over and said that investigating agencies need to probe if there was a nexus between the private service provider that conducts the test and officials at the Commission.

The examination is an online test and is held to fill clerical posts in government offices.

According to the PIL, because the students who appear in the SSC examination is entitled for fair examination systems in equal manner within the ambit of Art.21 and 14 of the constitution of India.

Staff Selection Commission or SSC has been one of the most desirable organizations for Government exams in India. Every year thousands of vacancies are filled by SSC in Government departments. Govt. jobs are the most sought after career choice in India. SSC is the leading Govt. organization that provides employment to lakhs of students in India. A great opportunity lies ahead for all the SSC aspirants.

The SSC conducts examinations to recruit non-gazetted staff for various central ministries and sub-ordinated departments. Every year, lakhs of aspirants sit for the multitude of exams held by the SSC in the hope of securing a stable government job. Some of the posts for which exams are conducted include lower division clerks, stenographers of the central secretariat stenographers service and equivalent grades of Indian foreign service, central excise inspectors, income tax inspectors, and sub-inspectors in the CBI and central police organisations.

Citing corruption cases reported in different times, petitioner said the court should issue directions to frame proper systems for protecting fundamental right of the students/ citizen of India, for free and fair selection and examination process for million students, who appeared every years in SSC examination.
