The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the elevation of five Advocates as Judges of Delhi High Court.
The collegium comprising Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice MB Lokur recommended that the following Advocates be elevated as judges:
- Ms. Jyoti Singh, S/Shri
- Mr. Prateek Jalan
- Mr. Anup Jairam Bhambhani
- Mr. Sanjeev Narula
- Mr. Manoj Kumar Ohri
The collegium had nine candidates before it. The recommendations were made by the then Acting Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court on 13th October, 2017, in consultation with her two senior-most colleagues.
The other Advocates whose candidature was considered were Krishnendu Datta, Saurabh Kirpal, Priya Kumar, and Sanjoy Ghose. While consideration of their cases was deferred, the collegium said that the proposal for elevating Saurabh Kirpal and Sanjoy Ghose would be taken up for consideration after some time.
