The Supreme Court collegium has recommended the appointment of two Judicial Officers as judges of Punjab and Haryana High Court.

The Collegium comprising Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, Justice MB Lokur and Justice Kurian Joseph recommended elevation of the following Judicial Officers:

Lalit Batra
Arun Kumar Tyagi

The proposal pertaining to elevation of another Judicial Officer, Neena Chaudhary was, however, remitted to the Chief Justice of the high court.

The resolution further noted the non-recommendation of three senior Judicial Officers, but highlighted the fact that while two of the names had earlier been rejected by the Supreme Court collegium back in April, the reasons recorded for non-recommendation of the third officer were “fully acceptable”.
