Dismissing his fresh PIL seeking a National Liqour Policy to curb alcohol consumption, Chief Justice T S Thakur today asked petitioner, lawyer and BJP Spokesperson Ashwini Upadhyaya "not to make the court a political arena".

As Senior lawyer Kapil Sibal who was present in the courtroom in connection with another case looked on, CJI pointed towards Sibal and told Upadhyaya

"Yesterday in the demonetisation matter you said Sibal was appearing as a politician but then are you not a politician?".

"How many petitions you have filed so far? We cannot encourage people who become professional public interest litigation petitioners. Is the BJP financing you for this ? You are a BJP campaigner here?

Why are you doing all this ?

BJP government is in power. Point out all your grievances to them. Are you running BJP agenda in Supreme Court?

Go to your party tell your government.

If we accept or admit whatever you are filing it is a question of credibility of the Judiciary also.

Generally we see you in front of us with a new PIL every week.

"This court cannot be made a political arena. We are dismissing your PIL".
