On Tuesday, the Supreme Court’s Vacation bench of Justices L.Nageswara Rao and Navin Sinha stayed the Delhi High Court’s order granting compensation to the air warrior, Wing Commander Sanjeet Singh Kaila, who was injured while bailing out of a fighter aircraft in 2005.

On Thursday, the same bench agreed to hear Kaila’s Interlocutory Application, seeking vacation of the stay, on June 2. Kaila’s IA was mentioned by his advocate, Abhinav Mukherji, while the respondent Hindustan Aeronautics Limited was represented by M/s Khaitan & Co.

The Delhi High court had granted a huge compensation of Rs.55.5 lakhs to Kaila, finding both the HAL and the Government failing in their duty of care.
