Ryan Int’l Murder Case: P&H HC Grants Interim Protection From Arrest To Ryan Group CEO, His Parents [Read Order]

The Ryan Group CEO and his parents on Thursday were granted interim protection from arrest by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in connection with the murder of 7-year old Pradhyuman Thakur.

Ryan Pinto, Augustine Pinto and Grace Pinto were granted interim relief till October 7.

The Pintos were represented by senior advocates RS Cheema and Randeep Rai along with Sandeep Kapur, advocate & partner of Karanjawala & Co.

While the Pintos urged for anticipatory bail, the CBI sought time to file reply.

At this, they petitioners prayed for an interim stay on arrest, which is likely under public pressure.

While granting the CBI time to file reply, the court granted stay in arrest till October 7 when it will hear further arguments on the anticipatory bail.

Mumbai-based Pintos had moved the application for anticipatory bail on September 19.

They said they have no objection to the CBI seeking time to respond, but should be granted protection till then.

"As the retainer counsel for the CBI has sought adjournment to file reply on merits and address arguments, it will be appropriate that petitions be heard on merit and decided, instead of hearing the part arguments...

"List on October 7. In the meanwhile, arrest of petitioners shall remain stayed till next date. However, if required, they will be called and allowed to join investigation," Justice Surinder Gupta ordered.
