Orientation Programmme for the New Batch at Institute of Law, Nirma University
Institute of Law, Nirma University organized Inaugural Ceremony of the four day Orientation Programme (10-13th July) for the New Batch of B.A. LL.B (Hons) and B.Com LL.B. (Hons) students on 10th July, 2017.
Prof. Dr. Purvi Pokhariyal, Director & Dean, Institute of Law, delivered the Welcome Address. She congratulated the students for securing admission at one of the best law schools of the country and appraised the students regarding various career opportunities available in the field of legal education. She also addressed the students about innovative curriculum and the various research centers at the Institute that ensure a best environment for learning, innovation and research.
Mr. D.P. Chhaya, Director (Academic & General Administration), asked the students to practice the Four D’s namely- Determination, Dedication, Devotion and Discipline and said that parents play a very important role in shaping the future of students.
The Chief Guest of the Inaugural Program –Ms. Meenakshi Lekhi, Member of Parliament and Advocate-Supreme Court of India delivered the Keynote Address. She oriented the students regarding law as one of the most promising career option. There are no short cuts for success and one needs to constantly pursue and focus on the goal relentlessly. She stressed on the importance of Core values, Social set up and the Skill set as a must for successful career. She also talked about Composite leadership and reminded the students that learning curve is a never ending one. Ms. Lekhi talked about the virtue of courage and asked students to develop compassion bearing in mind the end product. She encouraged the students to take failures in stride and keep working hard irrespective of how adverse the circumstances are. She also emphasized on the importance of persuasiveness, and emotional intelligence in any chosen endeavor.
Also present at the event was Mr K K Patel, Vice President, Nirma University. Mr Arun Prasad, Assistant Professor, Institute of Law delivered the vote of thanks.
