Suspended JD (S) leader Prajwal Revanna on Friday was remanded to police custody till June 6, by a Court in Bengaluru over the obscene videos case.
The 42nd Additional City Civil and Sessions Judge, passed the order on the remand application filed by the SIT which is probing the case. The SIT had sought 14-days custody. However, the court granted seven days custody.
The SIT had arrested Prajwal at the Bengaluru Airport on his arrival from Germany on Thursday in the wee hours. He has been arrested in Crime No.107/2024, registered with the Holenarasipura Town Police Station.
Special Public Prosecutor Ashok Naik sought 14-days police custody of prajwal for carrying out further investigation. He pleaded that the probe agency has to recover the mobile phones used in the crime, collect evidence from the places where the alleged offences were carried out by the accused and try and find out identity and whereabouts of other victims who have not yet come forward to lodge complaints.
Further he argued that Prajwal had absconded to a foreign country and it needs to be found who conspired with him to evade arrest.
While the defense counsel submitted that the accused had surrendered himself and there was no need for custodial interrogation. Moreover the accused had deep roots in the society and question of absconding would not arise.
