Advocate, Ms. Nina Gupta and Advocate, Mr. Somvir Singh Deswal have been elected to the Supreme Court Gender Sensitization and Internal Complaints Committee ("GSICC"), as per the results declared on Friday.

Ms. Gupta, who is also a Member of the Executive Committee of the Supreme Court Bar Association, was elected with the highest number of votes (292), followed by Mr. Deswal with 286 votes. They have been elected for a term of two years.

On 26.11.2013, the Chief Justice of India constituted the GSICC. As per Regulation 4 of the Gender Sensitization And Sexual Harassment of Women at the Supreme Court of India (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Regulations, 2013, GSICC was constituted to fulfill a very important public function of sensitizing the public to gender issues and to adress any complaints made with regard to secual harassment at the Supreme Court precincts.
