The Supreme Court has directed the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation to finalize the pension scheme within eight weeks.

The bench of Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and MM Sundresh said that, in case it could not make it, the Secretary and the head of the Corporation shall both remain present in the Court. The court has posted the case for  directions on 27.10.2021.

These cases raises the issue of calculating the pensions of those who have been appointed to the posts of KSRTC driver, conductor and mechanic. Earlier, the  court had given time to the government to formulate a special scheme for this.

When the case came up before the bench last month, the State Government said it was in the process of making a Scheme in consultation with the Corporation. Yesterday, again an adjournment was sought.

"At request of learned counsel for the appellant, eight weeks' time is granted as a final opportunity failing which the Secretary concerned and the head of the appellant Corporation shall both remain present in the Court", the court noted in the order.
