The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of Additional Judge of Calcutta High Court, Justice Aniruddha Roy as a Permanent Judge of the High Court. 

A notification to this effect was published pursuant to a meeting held by the Collegium on December 14. 

"The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on 14th December, 2021 has approved the proposal for appointment of Shri Justice Aniruddha Roy, Additional Judge of the Calcutta High Court as Permanent Judge of that High Court", the notification reads. 

The Central Government had notified his appointment in May 2020 as an Additional Judge of the Calcutta High Court for a period of two years. The Supreme Court Collegium had reiterated its recommendation to elevate him as a judge in January last year.
