The Supreme Court Collegium today recommended making 10 Additional Judges of the Allahabad High Court as the Permanent judges of the High Court.

The names that are recommended are as follows:

1. Justice Chandra Kumar Rai,

2. Justice Krishan Pahal,

3. Justice Sameer Jain,

4. Justice Ashutosh Srivastava,

5. Justice Subhash Vidyarthi,

6. Justice Brij Raj Singh,

7. Justice Shree Prakash Singh,

8. Justice Vikas Budhwar,

9. Justice Om Prakash Tripathi, and

10. Justice Vikram D. Chauhan.

The SC Collegium's statement states that on 23 November 2022, the Collegium of the Allahabad High Court had unanimously recommended the above-named ten Additional Judges for appointment as Permanent Judges of that High Court, and the Chief Minister and the Governor of Uttar Pradesh also concurred with the above recommendation.

Thereafter, in order to ascertain the fitness and suitability of the above-named Additional Judges, a consultation was held with a view to ascertain their suitability for elevation in terms of the Memorandum of Procedure, with Judges of the Supreme Court conversant with the affairs of the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad.

Pursuant to this, a Committee constituted to assess the judgments of the above-named Additional Judges submitted its report, and after the Collegium scrutinized and evaluated the material placed on record including the observations made by the Department of Justice in the file, the recommendations were made today.
