Students of the Faculty of Law, Delhi University, are protesting against non-approval of their LL.B degree for the last five days. The students are also demanding that the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi should comply with UGC regulations and BCI's rules of legal education.
According to a list published by the Bar Council of India in compliance of the order of the Delhi High Court dated 04.12.2019, only those students who have taken admission till the year 2016-17 have a valid degree in law.
In light of these facts, students are demanding that their degrees should be immediately approved by the Bar Council of India.
The students are also alleging that the Faculty of Law has failed to comply with University Grants
Commission (Redress of Grievances of Students) Regulations, 2019 and their grievances are not even acknowledged by the administration of the Faculty of Law.
The students say that their grievances are pending since years whereas the UGC's regulation mandate that student's grievances should be disposed within 15 days and a report should also be given to the students as well as the Vice-Chancellor of the University.
The students are also demanding reforms in evaluation system for law students, transparency in administration, compliance with RTI Act, disclosure of financial records, adoption of constitution for the Student's union and basic amenities such as clean drinking water and a proper canteen for the students
