Taking into account the spread of dengue fever in Lucknow, the Allahabad High Court has directed the Nagar Nigam, Lucknow to specify steps taken by it for control and prevention of dengue fever in the City.

The bench of Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justice Jaspreet Singh issued this direction in a PIL Plea pertaining to the medical facilities available in the State Government Hospitals.

Essentially, the PIL plea filed by one Ashish Kumar Mishra also referred to the surprise visit made by the Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister to a medicine store wherein he found expired medicines worth crores of rupees lying in the store.

During the hearing of the case, the petitioner also raised the issue regarding the spread of dengue fever in the city alleging that no effective steps have been taken to control or prevent the same.

In view of this, the Court directed the Counsel for the state to apprise the Court about the upgradation of medical facilities and especially the availability of Plasma for patients who may need the same. Further, he was also asked to apprise the Authorities to support the local administration wherever required in providing manpower or machines or the funds for the aforesaid purpose.
