Special CBI Judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar has extended P Chidambaram's judicial custody in INX Media case till

CBI counsel had argued for a 14 days extension of judicial custody. Kapil Sibal moved an application for home-cooked food to be allowed to Chidambaram and the same was consented to by the CBI. SG Tushar Mehta submitted that:

'We have no objection to Mr Chidambaram being provided with home cooked food, but it would set a precedent for other prisoners'

While extending the judicial custody, the Special Judge allowed Chidambaram's application seeking home cooked food.

While allowing the home-cooked food, the Judge noted that the same doesn't interfere with the rule which allows inmates to meet visitors only twice per week. It has been ordered that the food shall be delivered to the office of the Superintendent, Tihar prison, who shall supply the food to the applicant.

On the application seeking external medical condition of the applicant, the court noted that the applicant is being provided with all the medicines prescribed to him and clinically he's stable and his vitals are within normal limits.

However, it has been ordered that in case of any medical requirement of the applicant, he shall be examined in any Multidisciplinary Hospital such as AIIMS, Safdarjung or RML Hospital, in due consideration of Medical Officer in Charge, Jail Dispensary.

Earlier, Justice Suresh Kumar Kait of Delhi High Court had rejected Chidambaram's bail plea citing his political position as a cogent ground to influence the witnesses. The court, however, rejected any claim of flight risk or any possibility of tampering with evidence.

Chidambaram has now moved the Supreme Court for an urgent hearing on an appeal challenging the aforementioned Delhi High Court's order.
