The Spanish tourist, who allegedly fell victim to a horrific gang rape incident in Jharkhand's Dumka, has been granted compensation amounting to Rs 10 lakh (approximately 11,126.20 Euros). The District Legal Services Authority facilitated the transfer of this sum directly into the victim's account.
The transfer was confirmed through the issuance of a cheque and a formal letter, both of which were provided to the victim's husband by Dumka Deputy Commissioner Anjaneyulu Dodde and SP Pitambar Singh Kherwar.
This compensation initiative stemmed from the efforts of Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad, Executive Chairman of Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JHALSA), Ranchi. An immediate meeting was convened under the guidance of Anil Kumar Mishra, Chairman of District Legal Services Authority, Dumka, along with Deputy Commissioner Anjaneyulu Dodde, Superintendent of Police Pitambar Singh Kherwar, and Dalsa Secretary Uttam Sagar Rana.
The Jharkhand High Court on Monday took suo moto cognizance of the incident.
