The Central Government has issued notification allotting the land acquired under Acquisition of Certain Area at Ayodhya Act, 1993, including the inner and outer courtyard of the disputed site, to Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.

A land admeasuring five acres has been allotted to Sunni Central Waqf Board at a prominent place in Ayodhya, outside the land acquired under the Act. Allotment letter of land in Ayodhya to the Waqf Board has been issued by the State Government of Uttar Pradesh, the Notification said.

For this, the notification stated that, the Central Government took into "account past history of the communal disturbances and possible scenarios relating to public order, law and order and concerns relating to communal harmony and security and considering the large number of pilgrims visiting the land acquired under the said Act throughout the year and keeping in mind the essential amenities that would require to be provided for the increase in number of pilgrims who will be visiting the temple from all across the world in future." It further reads:

"NOW THEREFORE in exercise of powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 6 of the Acquisition of Certain Area at Ayodhya Act, 1993 and in compliance with the judgement of the Hon'ble Supreme Court, dated 9th November, 2019 in the matter of Civil Appeal Nos. 10866-10867 of 2010 and other connected appeals, the Central Government, being satisfied that the Trust, namely Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra set up on 5th February, 2020 is willing to comply with such terms and conditions specified in the said Scheme, directs that all rights, title and interests in relation to the entire area acquired under the Schedule to the said Act, including the inner and outer courtyard of the disputed site shall vest in the said Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra from the date this notification is published in the Official Gazette. " 

Earlier, the Prime Minister addressed the Lok Sabha and announced that Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra is to be formed in line with the verdict of the Supreme Court of India. He said: I am happy to share with my fellow Indians that important decisions have been taken with regard to Ram Janmabhoomi. These are in line with the verdict of the Honourable Supreme Court of India. After the verdict on the Ram Janmabhoomi issue came out, the people of India displayed remarkable faith in democratic processes and procedures.

In an unanimous verdict on 9th December 2019, the Supreme Court had held that the entire disputed land of 2.77 acres in Ayodhya must be handed over for the construction of Ram Mandir. At the same time, the Court held that an alternate plot of 5 acres must be allotted to the Sunni Waqf Board for construction of mosque.
