Senior Advocate D. S. Patwalia has been appointed as the new Advocate General of Punjab.
This comes days after Senior Advocate Atul Nanda resigned from the post of AG on September 18 citing constitutional convention and highlighting that his appointment was co-terminus with the chief minister's appointment.
Patwalia has been practising on the Constitutional side and has also dealt with service and criminal matters.
He is the son of ex-Supreme Court judge Justice Kuldeep Singh. His mother served as the Principal of Mohali Rajkiya Mahila College. Patwalia obtained LLB degree from Panjab University in the year 1998.
Dropping a mail to his team, Nanda had informed about his resignation as he thanked all his colleagues and junior lawyers who toiled long late hours, weekends and holidays, often at personal cost for case preparation and so that our office could shine in Court.
