Senior Advocate Anmol Ratan Singh Sidhu has been appointed as Punjab's new Advocate General. The post fell vacant after senior advocate Deepinder Singh Patwalia resigned from his post, in view of an apparent change in the State Government.

The name of Sr. Advocate Sidhu, who has been Punjab And Haryana High Court bar association president at least 5 times, was cleared by Punjab Chief Minister-designate Bhagwant Mann, as per a report by The Tribune.

He has also served as the Chairperson of the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana. Also, he has been an Additional Solicitor General of India, and an Additional Advocate General for both the States of Punjab and Haryana.

Senior Advocate Deepinder Singh Patwalia was appointed as the Advocate General of Punjab in November 2021, days after Senior Advocate Amar Preet Singh Deol had resigned from the post of AG, following acceptance of the same by the then Punjab Chief Minister, Charanjit Singh Channi.

Senior Advocate Amar Preet Singh Deol was appointed as the new Advocate General of Punjab following Senior Advocate Atul Nanda resigned from the post of AG on September 18 citing constitutional convention and highlighting that his appointment was co-terminus with the chief minister's appointment.
