Senior Advocate Anmol Ratan Singh Sidhu has been appointed as Punjab's new Advocate General by State's Governor today. A notification in this regard was issued today and which reads thus:

"The Governor of Punjab in the exercise of the powers conferred under Article 165 of the Constitution of India, is pleased to appoint Dr Anmol Rattan Sidhu, Senior Advocate, Punjab and Haryana High Court...as Advocate General for the state of Punjab with effect from the date he assumes charges of his office."

The post had fallen vacant after senior advocate Deepinder Singh Patwalia resigned from his post, in view of an apparent change in the State Government. The name of Sr. Advocate Sidhu, who has been Punjab And Haryana High Court bar association president at least 5 times, was cleared by Punjab's Newly sworn-in Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann recently.

Dr. Sidhu has also served as the Chairperson of the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana. Also, he has been an Additional Solicitor General of India, and an Additional Advocate General for both the States of Punjab and Haryana.
