Dealing with a suo moto case concerning the security of judicial officers and court staff, the Madhya Pradesh High Court has sought response of the State Government on the status of adequate infrastructure available in the court premises across the State.
A division bench comprising of Chief Justice Mohammad Rafiq and Justice Vijay Kumar Shukla was dealing with a suo moto case registered by the High Court in August 2016 in the backdrop of certain incidents wherein the safety and security of the judges and court staff in the State was affected.
While the State Government have been filing status reports regarding the steps taken by it on improving the situation, the Court categorically asked it to file a fresh report on the aspect as to whether all the court premises in the State are having a boundary wall structure of sufficient height.
Furthermore, the Court also sought response on the establishment of police stations inside such court premises especially in all the District Headquarters.
The Court also directed the State Government to provide details as to whether police 'bandobast' (arrangement) is available in the court premises for the safety and security of judges and court staff.
"Whether the police bandobast is available for security of the Judicial Officers and their family members in and around their residential premises at Divisional Headquarters, Sub-Divisional Headquarters, District Headquarters and Tehsil Headquarters?" the Court asked further.
The Court directed the State Government to file a status report on the aforesaid infrastructural requirements and posted the matter for further consideration on July 30.
