The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the names of four Additional Judges of the Calcutta High Court to be appointed as Permanent Judges of that High Court.

They are:

  1. 1.Justice Madhumati Mitra
  2. 2.Justice Biswajit Basu
  3. 3.Justice Amrita Sinha
  4. 4.Justice Jay Sengupta

Justice Mitra was appointed as judges of the high court in October 2018. The remaining three Justices were appointed as Additional Judges of the high court on May 2, 2018.

The Collegium has also proposed to extend the term of Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay, Additional Judge of the High Court, for a period of six months w.e.f. May 2, 2020. He was also appointed as a judge in May 2018.
