Supreme Court Collegium has recommended transfer of Justice Ravi Vijaykumar Malimath, presently acting as the Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court, to the Himachal Pradesh High Court.

The resolution passed by the Collegium on Monday stated,

"The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on 14th December, 2020, has recommended transfer of Mr. Justice R.V. Malimath, Judge, Uttarakhand High Court [PHC: Karnataka] to Himachal Pradesh High Court."

Justice Malimath began his practice in law in 1987 at the Karnataka High Court. In February 2008, he was made an Additional Judge in the Karnataka High Court and his post became permanent in February 2010.

He was transferred to the Uttarakhand High Court on March 5, 2020. Earlier this year, when the then Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court retired on 27th July, Justice Malimath was appointed as its Acting Chief Justice.

The Supreme Court Collegium also recommended transfer of nine other Chief Justices and Judges to various other High Courts.

Along with this, the Collegium has recommended elevation of Justice Dr. S. Muralidhar as the Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court and Justice Hima Kohli as Chief Justice of Telangana High Court.
