The Delhi Government today told the High Court that it has decided to de-escalate COVID ICU beds in the city.
As per an Order issued under the authority of Directorate General of Health Services, the AAP Government, in a review meeting held on Tuesday, January 5, has decided to:
Convert 4 fully COVID private hospitals namely: (i) Fortis Super Speciality Hospital, Vasant Kunj; (ii) Saroj Super Speciality Hospital, Rohini; (iii) Maha Durga Charitable Trust Hospital, Model Town; and (iv) Sir Ganga Ram City Hospital, Pusa Road to "part COVID hospitals".
"The aforementioned 4 private hospitals shall reserve 30% of their total bed capacity for the treatment of COVID patients. Furthermore, the aforementioned four hospitals shall reserve 40% of their total ICU beds or at least twice the number of occupancy of COVID ICU beds as on 05.01.2021, whichever is dedicate higher for treatment of COVID patients," the Government has ordered.
It is clarified however, that the status of Max Smart Super Speciality Hospital, Saket as a fully COVID dedicated hospital shall remain unchanged.
During the last hearing of the case held on December 28, Single Judge Bench of Justice Subramonium Prasad had directed the AAP Government in Delhi to place on record the outcome of the review meeting before it.
The Government has now submitted that it shall de-escalate COVID ICU beds from existing 80% to 40% (or at least twice the number of ocupancy of COVID ICU beds as on 05.01.2021, whichever is higher), in 41 private hospitals listed in order dated December 19, 2020.
It has also decided to de-escalate COVID ICU beds from existing 60% to 40% (or at least twice the number of occupaney of COVID ICU beds as on 05.01.2021, whichever is higher) in the 28 part-COVID private hospitals listed in order dated December 26, 2020.
