The Rajasthan Government has informed the High Court that it has commenced the process for vaccination of Pakistani Minority Migrants.
An affidavit in this regard was filed before a Division Bench of Chief Justice Indrajit Mahanty and Justice Vinit Kumar Mathur.
The development comes soon after the High Court asked the Government to chalk out a plan for vaccinating the said category of persons.
A Bench of Justices Vijay Bishnoi and Rameshwar Vyas had observed that the Central Government has already issued an SOP for vaccination of persons who do not have prescribed identity cards.
"So far as the process of COVID-19 vaccination of the persons, who are not having prescribed identity cards, is already detailed out by the Central Government and now, it is for the State and District Administration to chalk out a plan for vaccinating the Pakistani Minority Migrants," the Bench had remarked.
The High Court had therefore asked the Rajasthan Government to explain why it is not treating Pakistani Minority Migrants eligible for COVID-19 vaccination.
In this backdrop, the State had filed an affidavit before the Registry on 10/11th of this month, indicating that the process of vaccination of persons of Pakistani Minority Migrants has already commenced.
The State counsel assured the Court that he will file a further affidavit, indicating the names and location of the persons who have been vaccinated thus far, pursuant to the directions issued by the Court.
Accordingly, the matter has been posted for hearing on July 6.
[This case was first registered to address the grievances pertaining to issuance of temporary ration cards and extension of NORI (no objection to return to India) visa for such migrants.]
