Bar Council of India has informed that it hopes to conduct 16th Qualifying Exam For Indian Nationals holding foreign degrees by first week of October 2020.

"We hope to conduct the Exam by 1st week of October, 2020, subject to the convenience of the NLU's and STBC's. However, in case they are unable to agree upon any date in the first week of October, 2020 i.e. either on 3rd or 4th of October, 2020, the next earliest feasible date, preferably in the next week of October, 2020 shall be duly intimated", reads the notification uploaded in the Bar Council website which adds that a batch of 22 or more candidates have already been sent emails about the finalisation of their candidature to appear in the said exam.

The council said that the final list of all candidates will be out latest by 20th September, 2020, if not earlier. Admit cards will be emailed only after confirmation of the center by NLU's and STBC, as the case may be according to options chosen, it added.

Earlier, the council had informed that there would be change of pattern in the Exams in view of the pandemic situation. Instead of 6 exams of 3 hours each, on 6 separate days, there shall be 2 exams of 3 hours each in two different sessions in one day, whereby each of the 6 subjects papers in which exams are usually held, would be given equal hours and approximately equal marks., it had said. 

In the first session between 10.00 AM to 01.00 PM,(time is subject to change) one paper of three hours covering 3 of the present subject papers Paper-1-Constitution of India; Paper-2-Contract Law & Negotiable Instruments Act; Paper-3-Company Law would be held and in next session of 3 hours, the next 3 remaining subject papers Paper-4-Civil Procedure Code and Limitation Act; Paper-5-Criminal Procedure Code; and Paper-6-The Indian Legal Profession and Code of Ethics, would be held, the Council had said.

The 16th Qualifying Examination for the Indian Nationals holding Foreign Law Degrees was originally scheduled from 25th May, 2020 to 30th May, 2020.
