Punjab & Haryana High Court To Hear Cases Through Video Conference Mode With Effect From April 19

Considering the prevailing situation due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in the state of Punjab, Haryana, and UT Chandigarh, the Punjab & Haryana High Court has resolved to function completely through the virtual mode of hearings with effect from April 19.
This has been done to ensure the safety of the Hon'ble Judges, Advocates, Staff, and Litigants. The notice by the HC states,
"The Administrative Committee of the High Court in consultation with the Additional Solicitor General, Union of India, Advocate General for the state of Punjab & Haryana, Senior Standing Counsel, UT Chandigarh Administration, President and Secretary HC Bar Association Chandigarh and President, Senior Advocates' Bar Association has resolved that all the Honorable Benches will hear the Cases through Video Conferencing w.e.f. 19.04.2021."
Recently, the Madras High Court has resolved to function completely through the virtual mode of hearings till 23rd April in view to ensure that prevention measures are taken in order to arrest the spread of pandemic. The said direction will apply to both the benches i.e. High Court at Madras as well as the Madurai Bench.
It may be noted that the Chief Justice of Punjab & Haryana High Court won't be holding court on April 19 and 20 as he has tested positive of COVID-19.
