The Punjab & Haryana High Court has decided to extend all interim orders/ directions till September 15, 2021.

The order has been passed by the Bench of Chief Justice Ravi Shanker Jha and Justice Arun Palli in suo moto proceedings initiated in view of the alarming increase in the COVID-19 cases.

On Tuesday, Senior Advocate Anupam Gupta, who was appointed as the Amicus Curiae placed before the Court certain material, highlighting the prevailing situation in India as well as other countries due to the pandemic (COVID-19).
The Court found the data placed before it to be germane to the issues that were being examined and relevant in deciding if the interim arrangements/orders made by the Court needed to be continued.

This prompted the Court to order that the interim arrangement made by it, vide order dated April 28, 2021, as clarified by order dated August 20, 2021, shall continue to remain in operation.

On June 30, the Court had decided to extend all interim orders/ directions passed by it and Courts subordinate to it till August 31, 2021 in view of "the severity of the pandemic and likelihood of its spurt in the near future".
