The Punjab & Haryana Bar Association has requested the High Court not to pass any adverse orders on July 10 due to the absence of lawyers amid heavy rainfall, water logging and red alert issued by the weather authorities in the tricity.

A letter written to the High Court today stated that the Executive committee of the lawyers’ body has unanimously decided to observe no work day on July 10 in view of the requests received from members of the Bar.

“…the Bar Association has received numerous requests from the Members of the Bar that they would not be able to attend Courts due to present situation of heavy rain and water logging,” the letter added.

The Bar Association has made the request for no adverse orders in view of the fact that a large number of lawyers have gone to their native villages due to weekend and are stated to be unable to travel back to Chandigarh due to weather condition.

The letter also highlights closure of many roads in the tricity due to heavy rain, including those surrounding the High Court premises.

“In light of the weather conditions and requests received from the members of the Bar, the Executive Committee has unanimously decided to observe a "no work day" on July 10. So your good self is kindly requested to cooperate and any adverse order may not be passed on 10.07.2023 due to non-appearance of Advocates,” the Bar Association wrote.
