Journalist Priya Ramani appeared today in the Patiala House Court in the criminal defamation case filed by former Union Minister M J Akbar.
The Additional Chief Metrapolitan Magistrate released her on bail and has fixed the next date of hearing as April 8.
The cause for the complaint is an article published by Priya Ramani last October during the #MeToo campaign, accusing that Akbar had sexually harassed her while she was working as a journalist under him around 20 years ago.
Following the allegations, Akbar had to step down as union minister.
He filed the criminal complaint terming the allegations "scurrilous, concocted and false".
On January 29, the ACCM had summoned Priya Ramani, observing that allegations were prima facie "defamatory".
After Ramani's revelations, multiple women have come out with accounts of alleged sexual harassment by him while he was working as an editor.
