The President has appointed Justice CK Abdul Rahim, a retired judge of the Kerala High Court as the Chairman in the Kerala Administrative Tribunal (KAT) for a period of four years or till he attains the age of 70 years.

The Order issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions also stated that the conditions of service of the position shall be governed by the provisions of the Tribunals Reforms Act, 2021 and the Rules framed thereunder.

The Kerala Administrative Tribunal Advocates' Association had recently moved High Court aggrieved by the inaction by the Union and state government to extend the term of the present judicial members completing their first term by 19 July 2021, and to appoint a new chairman in the place of the former chairman.

Earlier this month, the Court had heavily condemned the Centre's failure to comply with the Court's orders for the immediate appointment of a chairperson to the Kerala Administrative Tribunal (KAT).

The Chairperson and Members of the Administrative Tribunals for a State are appointed by the President of India in consultation with the Governor of the concerned State.
