The President of India today appointed Justice Goutam Bhaduri, senior most puisne Judge, as the Acting Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court with effect from March 11, 2023, consequent upon the retirement of Justice Arup Kumar Goswami, chief justice of the HC.

A notification issued in this regard on Friday reads thus:

"In exercise of the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint, Shri Justice Goutam Bhaduri, senior- most puisne Judge of High Court of Chhattisgarh, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from 11.03.2023 consequent upon the retirement of Shri Justice Arup Kumar Goswami, Chief Justice, High Court of Chhattisgarh."
