An intervention application has been filed before the Karnataka High Court seeking investigation against Jubilant Generics Company Limited, located in Mysuru District. After several of its workers have contracted Coronavirus.
As per the application filed by Advocate Geetha Misra which is likely to be taken up for hearing on April 13, says that several workers of the company have contracted COVID-19 for the past weeks and as on date more than 1200 workers are under quarantine.
The petitioner submits that due to careless/negligent handling of the situation by the owner of said Company the COVID-19 had spread to various parts of the Mysuru District. Person who first tested positive patient No.52, through whom the disease has spread to others has not travelled abroad or been in direct contact with any COVID-19 patients.
Further, the application reads that during the month of March an Air Conditioned Container Truck, carrying chemicals from China to the company may be the root cause for the COVID-19 in Mysuru District. An investigation is also sought into the matter by requesting the Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru District by letter dated 06-04-2020.
The plea prays for directions to the Chief Secretary to look into the request of the petitioner in coordination with the Deputy Commissioner Mysuru and take suitable action against those persons who are the route cause in the interest of justice and equity.
