Punjab and Haryana High Court recently directed Punjab's Inspector General of Police and Senior Superintendent of Police to decide a representation to stop the accused with immediate effect from committing sacrilege of Holy Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

The bench comprising Justice Sandeep Moudgil was dealing with a petition wherein it was alleged that the private respondents unauthorisedly entered into the place of the petitioner and illegally placed Holy Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji inside the shed of the petitioner containing manure and farming equipments with a sole motive of grabbing petitioner's land.

Petitioner further contended that he filed a representation on 10.08.2022 in this regard, and an FIR was registered but no action is being taken so far. As a result of slow investigation, the petitioner is being deprived of his own land and property.

After considering the submission of the counsel for the petitioner, the court directed respondents No.2 and 3 (IGP and SSP) to look into the matter and decide the representation of the petitioner within one week.

Accordingly, the court disposed off the instant petition.
